Coordination: Body Part Number Game

Each child has one hula hoop. Place it on the floor. (1) Tell them to “Find a way to put 3 body parts touching the floor inside your hoop.” (They might put one hand, one foot and their elbow on the floor inside their hoop, or two feet and their head.) They choose. (2) If they are learning to count, together count how many parts are touching the ground. If they put 4 when you said 3, no problem. Say, “Let’s count together. 1, 2, 3, 4. That’s 4. If you want to put only 3, how many do you need to take away? Which part do you want to move? Great! Let’s count again. 1, 2, 3. You did it! (3) Say another number and let them try.
